Commitment to Digital Accessibility

At Associação Empresarial de Braga (AEB) we believe that everyone, regardless of their abilities, should have equal access to our products and services. We are firmly committed to ensuring that the platform www.centrobraga.pt is accessible, inclusive and compliant with national and European standards on digital accessibility.

We follow the guidelines of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 ensuring that the Marketplace offers a safe, understandable and effective user experience for all people, including those with disabilities.

  1. Accessibility integrated into development

Accessibility is an integral part of the Marketplace’s design and development process. We adopt practices such as:

  • Consistent use of semantic HTML;
  • Accessible attributes (e.g., aria-label, aria-labelledby);
  • Code reviews focused on accessibility (A11y);
  • Internal training and awareness sessions for the technical team.

  1. Accessible navigation for everyone

The platform was designed to be fully navigable with assistive technologies. Among the available features:

  • Keyboard navigation:
    • Arrow keys and Page Up/Down to scroll through content;
    • Tab key to navigate between links, buttons and forms;
    • Shift + Tab to go back;
    • Navigation shortcuts (skip links) to skip repetitive menus.
  • Compatibility with screen readers:
    • Clear structure with hierarchical headings (h1 to h6);
    • Navigation landmarks (main, nav, header, footer);
    • Accessible labels for interactive elements.

  1. Inclusive purchasing process

The entire purchasing process was designed to be simple, accessible and autonomous:

  • Product search and addition to cart with support for keyboard and screen readers;
  • Checkout with:
    • Intuitive cart management;
    • Choice of delivery and payment methods;
    • Clear presentation of costs and conditions.
  • Accessible customer area, allowing:
    • Viewing order history;
    • Initiating returns;
    • Managing account data and privacy preferences;
    • Downloading invoices in legible format.

  1. Inclusive and responsive design

The Marketplace design is responsive, adapting to all screen sizes without compromising structure or usability.

The site is compatible with major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver.

  1. Regulatory compliance

AEB ensures that the Marketplace interface is free of dark patterns and that no functionality induces users to make decisions without full awareness or consent.
